I've been playing w/ @media_cloud and still have not figured it all out yet but I did a search for "caucus" stories from Feb 1 to Feb 5. The seed query matched 2,446 stories and spidered to collect a total ~4500. It's public if you want to play with it: topics.mediacloud.org/#/topics/3773/…
Under "influence" at the bottom you can generate a link map and download a gexf file that can be imported to gephi. So here are news stories that mentioned "caucus" in the past 5 days. Labels are scaled according to number of inlinks. I *think the Twitter node = tweet embeds.
Here's the same dataset with labels scaled by number of facebook shares. There are 615 "media sources" and I'm still trying to figure out why YouTube is so big. Maybe because the caucus was live-streamed on YouTube?
Under "influence" then "top stories" and then click on "facebook shares" says this 2016 Bernie video had 270K Facebook shares? Crowdtangle doesn't show any recent Facebook shares for the video but some people tweeted the 4 year old video this week. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Anytime fascists in USA have a PR/optics problem, like for example a parade of them marching and spouting fascist slogans or when one of their fans commits a mass murder, this counter messaging inevitably emerges to explain no it’s Actually Leftists who are violent terrorists.
It’s an old tactic. In Condor propaganda from the 70’s in Argentina, the strategy was the same. Leftists were labeled as violent terrorists and targeted for extermination and right wing death squads were called “counter terrorist forces” or “hardliners” (see: a few bad apples).
It was coordinated psychological warfare against leftists by the military dictatorships who controlled the Southern Cone, there are receipts in CIA docs & NSA archives. cia.gov/library/readin… it's too bad this document is still redacted decades later but there's enough info...

Most of the abuses that this sector of media is critical about come from internet giants, who pay lip service in response, because those abuses are very profitable, & regulation is unlikely in the US & users not motivated enough to change their usage of networks. /2
US regulation that would help stop the criticized practices is unlikely to help, mainly because Congress isn't qualified to design these regulations, so they would leave it to lobbyists working for the industry to be regulated /3
