A general reminder to all that “Secularism” is an important feature of the state, not an individual citizen. In fact, it is precisely because individuals have the right to be religious that it’s critical that the state be secular.
Of course, one can be a “secular humanist” in the literal sense of the meaning of the word “secular”, which is “of the world, temporal” and therefore not concerned with the “spiritual”, and “humanist” in the ability to seek good for humankind without divine guidance.
So the next time someone goes “secular hypocrisy” because someone wearing religion-identifying clothing shared a stage with someone professing to be in support of secularism, either ignore them (preferred) or point them to this distinction
