Latest @ONS GDP figures are out this morning. They show that we ended the decade as we started: with disappointingly slow growth (growth in the year to 2019 Q4 was the joint-lowest since 2010 Q1). 
@ONS Digging down into the figures we see that the weakness has been across the sectors. Production has been in recession since 2019 Q2 and quarterly services growth is the slowest since 2016.
@ONS The GDP figures have been fairly volatile over the past year and the expenditure breakdown helps explain why. There was significant stock building by firms pre the old March 2019 Brexit date. This was then reversed in Q2.
@ONS All this has made forecasting GDP tricky. We have not had a new @OBR_UK forecast in almost a year. But on average GDP growth has disappointed over the course of 2019. The latest @bankofengland forecast was pretty spot on meaning no change for interest rate expectations.
