The Sanders problem: his radical platform is popular but it can’t be enacted without control of Congress. But Dems unlikely to win Senate this year even if they win White House and if Sanders is Pres they’re more likely to lose House too in 2022
If what you want is liberal policy enacted, a Dem with more appeal to independents/Republicans/swing states is more likely to get it enacted even if what they’re proposing is less bold. But try making an appealing sound byte or bumper sticker out of that message
OTOH a Trump 2nd term might be the best route to radical liberal policy longer run (assuming US democracy/the planet survive it) as Reps would like get crushed in 2022 midterm paving way for Dem 2024 trifecta. Except a 7-2 Rep SCOTUS wld strike it all down...
