Shankha or conch shell is regarded as on of the most sacred and auspicious instrument in Hindu culture. This word is derived from two words 'Shum' which means 'good' and 'Kham' which means 'water' thus combined to be known as Shankham.
When the Shankha is blown by controlling the breath, the sound "OM" emanates from it. It is also said that by blowing it, all the negative energy gets ridden off. The Shankha is one of the important object that emerged during the Samudra Manthan.
In the Hindu Dharma, the Shankha has a huge importance as Lord Vishnu can be found with this. There is a huge religious significance of Shankha which still prevails today! It is mainly used during worshipping the deities to welcome them!
