The EU, in some sense, was meant to resolve the problem of politics by transcending it. Both @dmarusic and I want the EU to survive, but this shouldn't keep us from questioning faulty starting premises. This was both hubris and a fundamental misreading of human nature
Too much consensus can undermine democracy, so in this sense, it's good and necessary that there are anti-EU parties in Europe. To have none would suggest a problem of representation, a narrowing of opinion, and be contrary to the democratic spirit
