I anticipated Apple having supply chain issues so I partially hedged that risk by purchasing this late last week.
In assembled format! One of each part. In the plastic still. Mint condition!

This package from Apple that I purchased this week was almost as costly as my first car (an Austin Healy) and 3.5 X the cost of my first HP-35 hand held scientific calculator.
What did I purchase as my first automobile for about the cost of my new iPhone? It was in the shop often!

Last week, a participant in one of my lessons brought my attention to this documentary. I watched it all, two times. It claims that Mecca is not the real holy city in Islam, but Petra is. Not here to attack the documentary, but here’s why they’re wrong.

The main basis for their claim is one of Mecca’s names being: Umm ul-Qura. Which means ‘Mother of Villages’. — Thus, they assumed it would be full of trees, water streams. Mecca doesn’t have that, so perhaps it’s not Mecca. Very wrong. No where does ‘Umm ul-Qura’ mean that.

The claim that Mecca, or the Muslim Holy City is supposed to be full of trees, water, walls, etc, is unfounded.

Here is a verse from the Quran proving that Mecca is a dry place of no crops or plants (at all).

Note: ‘House’ in this verse refers to an actual built structure.

Yes, I am a PROUD Canadian- for that I'm not going to apologize. I live about half way between Buffalo NY and Toronto. Like almost 90% of the Canadian population- I live within 250 miles of the US Border. I have friends in relatives living the US- and enjoy visiting them.

Late last week, Reuters reported that Facebook is being asked to “break the encryption” in its Messenger application.

We think it’s unlikely they are being ordered to break encryption in Messenger—and that the reality is more complicated. eff.org/deeplinks/2018…
At issue here is a demand by the government that Facebook help it intercept Messenger voice calls.

Messenger calls aren't really what we refer to as “end-to-end encrypted,” and Facebook may have the means to comply with the government's request. reuters.com/article/us-fac…
We don’t think this case should result in a landmark legal precedent on encryption.

But we cannot allow the government to weaponize any ruling in this case in its larger push to undermine strong encryption and digital security.

Late last week Bill Hinman from the SEC gave a speech that outlined a handful factors that lawyers and projects should use “in assessing whether a digital asset is offered as an investment contract and is thus a security.”

These factors indicate that many of the tokens sold via an “ICO” run the risk of being deemed a security.
