Incredible ignorance on show during Question Time yet again; totally unchallenged, a person asks why the EU has stopped dredging our rivers, whilst to her right, 'thick as pig shit and proud of it' Eva Braun, claps and mutters, "EU Directive" This is Brexit Britain.
Maybe Eva's mate should tell the Environment Agency? They appear to believe that 'individuals, businesses and public bodies' conduct the dredging that many believe isn't the cause of the flooding anyway!

No doubt Priti Patel will soon offer a solution; now that the EU no longer dredge our rivers (😉) her 8.5m economically inactive 16-64 year olds, students, mothers, disabled and early retirees can dredge for benefits!

the world of government home support schemes can be confusing because it’s an alphabet soup of initiatives

so you could be forgiven for shrugging your shoulders at the news of yet another offer to help first-time-buyers

but....
when the government offers first time buyers £100,000 (on average) off the price of a new build home it’s worth asking where the money is coming from

on the basis that you don’t get owt for nowt

so here’s a brief explainer
under the proposals buyers would get a 30% discount on the property

when time comes to sell, that discount would be locked in for perpetuity.

this would require the owner to get a valuation from a surveyor and sell the property at 70% of that figure to a new 1st-time buyer.

So if it comes to a invasion of #Iran there are several things to see and know. The #Geography is on the side of Iran. The #West is protected by a massiv #Chain of #mountains wich would be easy to #defend even with a weaker #army they could try to keep there a defend line
The north is not able to reach for the #US troops and the #caspiansee is #landlocked by many #nations. A inportant @NATO allie if the defens act works would be #Turkey wich would be forced to send troops against #Iran and a area mainly owned by #Kurds in #Iran.
the east has a little lower mountain chain and a bigger desert in the south west the #Dasht-e #Lut and is coverd by huge #rocks and the area of #Namak-#Zar inside Dasht-e Lut is the #hotest place on #earth actual. And the border area to #Pakistan is also coverd by a dry #desert

March update on the biggest Japanese companies in the UK and what they are doing in response to Brexit (or if you prefer, global trends in the car industry, nuclear power, IT etc). There are around 1,000 companies, employing 160,000 people. 1/
1. The Fujitsu group continues to be the biggest Japanese employer in 🇬🇧(>8,300). Employee numbers have dropped by 2,000 since 2016 + further restructuring in Europe started Oct 2018, including shutting Augsburg factory in Germany 2/
Fujitsu UK MD has confirmed Fujitsu is committed to UK however, which is not surprising as it has a lot of government contracts, including for ID document recognition for post Brexit systems bbc.co.uk/news/business-… 3/

I'm dimly aware that only a dozen people will ever read this, but as someone with some inside knowledge of the car industry I think it's very important to explain in some detail why #Brexit MUST have been a factor in the closure of #Honda's Swindon plant
To do this, I'll explain two concepts that will be familiar to those of you in manufacturing, but less so to the rest. They are "Just in time manufacturing" and " lean processing". You'll have heard the former in the news a fair bit I expect
"Just in time" refers to the supply chain. In basic terms it means that you get the parts/materials/etc you need, but crucially you get the amount you need, at the place you need them, at the exact time you need them

As you may have seen, my colleague @MarkKleinmanSky just broke the news that Honda are planning to close their car factory in Swindon. 3,500 jobs at risk. Will be closed by 2022. A very big deal. A few further thoughts:
Some will be tempted to put the Honda closure down to Brexit. But not so hasty: major secular shifts happening in auto industry: dieselgate, shift to electric powertrains, econ demand moving from G7 to China etc. They are likely to have played as big if not bigger a part
More directly significant than Brexit is the fact that Japan now has a free trade deal with the EU. All of a sudden the economic obstacles to making a car in Japan and sending it to the EU have diminished. More on this here trade.ec.europa.eu/doclib/press/i… #Honda
