This from @mermaids_gender (& @StarbucksUK ) is not OK.

It is not remotely OK

It is concerning that an organisation that thinks this is OK should have access to vulnerable children.

What is the culture, the systems and values of an organisation that could sign this off..?
Concerns have already been raised about whether Mermaids is fit for purpose. Particularly at the time of the big National Lottery Grant.

They were brushed aside by a review which barely mentioned safeguarding

This is the organisation that @EHRC launched their (still delayed) schools guidance with

Mermaids are training schools and advising GPs and healthcare professionals

Schools refer pupils to contact Mermaids without parents knowledge
Mermaids say that children under 16 should be able to change sex & says there should be a system for those who do not live in "supportive households"

(i.e. those whose parents that think their child might grow out of feelings dysphoria with support)

Funders have been throwing money at them.

Any small self-help group will struggle to grow like this.

And this one is working with vulnerable young people in an area with very little evidence and big risks.

This is not OK
