In defence of ordinary language to talk about women's rights and child safeguarding
In which I name check some of the orgs standing up: @FiLiA_charity @SBSisters @IndexCensorship @WomensBudgetGrp @whywomen @MumsnetTowers & some that have been missing: @AmnestyUK @EHRC @libertyhq @fawcettsociety (at least @Samsmethers has now spoken up for @Womans_Place_UK 😊)
Many more i could have said @Girlguiding @NSPCC @NCVO @WomenDeliver etc... and individuals notably absent, and unusually silent in the debate.
They could have made space for clarity and evidence but they didn't.

We have not been not waiting for the grown ups -- the strength of organising by @Womans_Place_UK @fairplaywomen @AllianceLGB @ForwomenScot @SafeSchools_UK @Transgendertrd & many others in the face of so much Stonewalling is impressive. There is expertise & analysis eg @mbmpolicy
And people who have been quietly noticing that this issue is not as simple as they first thought are starting to speak up (as Tony Blair & @Tcbooth have recently done)

But there will be a lot to unwind. It is high time for organisations: public bodies, political parties, corporations, charities - especially those with safeguarding responsibilities - to think this through properly.
If your org has allowed its polices to be dictated by its LGBTQ+ network and by Stonewall, Mermaids, GIREs, Global Butterflies etc.. without proper oversight and regard for the law you are sitting on a pile of highly overpriced tulips that are about to become a liability.
It is time to set up an internal taskforce of senior people who wont be bullied, or distracted by rainbows and glitter or Stonewall Equality Index points to look at your policies Equality Monitoring, HR, Safeguarding and work out if they have been corrupted.
It is the very least you can do, because the sunlight is coming in.
