The “don’t test, don’t tell” policy of the CDC came crashing down tonight.

Community transmission is here in the US, and we don’t know the origin.

This patient - intubated with a life-threatening viral infection - has been at UC Davis in this condition for SEVEN DAYS.
“Will not cancel classes unless ordered by the Yolo County Health Authority.”

Update: It turns out this patient has been at UC Davis since February 19 – a full week ago and was only diagnosed with Covid-19 on Sunday, February 23. The hospital had to request the CDC do the test and since the patient did not fit the existing diagnostic criteria for Covid-19
A test was not immediately administered. On Sunday the CDC did the test and today the CDC confirmed the patient tested positive. How many people, nurses and doctors were exposed?They are now asking a small number of employees to stay home and monitor the temperature.

Since patient did not fit existing CDC criteria for COVID-19, test was not immediately administered by CDC.
-patient arrived at UCD last Wednesday but only tested for the virus on Sun despite a request made by med center officials that they conduct a test when patient admitted.
“Today the CDC confirmed the patient’s test was positive."

“This is not the first #COVIDー19 patient we have treated & because of the precautions we have had in place since this patient’s arrival, we believe there has been minimal potential for exposure here.

#COVID19 Flight attendant for Korean Air dx'd in Korea. She flew flights in/out of LAX/Seoul as well as Tel Aviv/ Seoul.

Also believed she walked Los Angeles Koreatown prior to return flight to Seoul.

Source Korean news &South Korea's Center for Disease Control.
This also on the heels of US military confirmed case in Seoul yesterday.

1. RELIEF FUND: Until we have univ. health care we need an emergency health relief fund. The # of critical cases, meaning cases requiring significant medical intervention, are more than ten fold the number of deaths. For many this will result bankruptcy levels of medical debt.
2. ER COVERAGE: Health Insurance companies should not be allowed to deny coverage for treatments that are not 'pre-approved' or "FDA approved' as all of the treatment options for severe cases of COVID are 'off-label'
