Zero Tolerance & Silent Corridors

Last month @NExclusions asked my thoughts on a @NEUnion motion prompted by the government's prediction that Alternative Provision would increase by 25%

I believe my response has much relevance to this debate. Lets examine the whole system
For context I'm inserting this summary section from the Education Policy Institute research report on off rolling, using DfE database and clear method its the most extensive research on this subject that I know of
10 years might seem a longtime but it's a lifetime for the #ChildrenOfAusterity. There's students at uni who were 6 when bankers crashed the global economy
If it interests you look through the pinned Thread on my profile you will find a full breakdown of the leaked DfE document.
I wont attach the motion but
@JoToovey @GEasterlowSEND @AnneHeavey321 @mrsElParker
deserve a lot of credit alongside others for the years they've spent trying to raise the damage done in particular to the education of SEND students by austerity and Goves reforms
Just for clarification I think students who need to removed from a lesson should go to staffed work rooms, removing our booths at work this year alongside other measures has seen clear improvements in behaviour.
A month ago I thought police crack downs might sweep into the police system those students in poor areas getting up to the same minor criminality other students in the suburbs get away with all the time (minor drug dabbling) before growing out of it.
But ZT and Silent corridors enforced across all schools, besides the fact I hope it's a gimmick to appeal to certain voters at the expense of children (many alternatives are even worse!) Surely this removes parental choice a key Tory arguement in the creation of academies and FS
In conclusion I worry we could end up 'warehousing' children institutionalising them early, increasing rather than tackling underlying issues that lead to poor behaviour.
I worry even more that we're now living in a world where some will want this to happen to other people's children (never their own) because they can see a profit motive.

Just look how private investors attitude towards privatised children's services in the link below
I think that's enough from me for now, please share.
