the best argument against communism isnt muh charlie kirk talking points or capitalism or big numbers, its aesthetics. an ideology that had both russian and chinese visual history to work with and could only come up with clipart level crests and making everything red is a failure

this is obviously a huge factor in capitalism still having no serious opposition. no one cares about body count

ethnography: around age 7-9 some kids realize they can simulate crying to get attention. they change their voice + rub their eyes. u have to tell them you know they arent crying. its a learned behavior. this person is displaying an advanced form of this (she isnt actually crying)
pretending to choke back tears, the crying "cant get my words out", pulling up sleeves and touching your eyes so it seems like you are blotting tears (notice she doesnt actually dry her eyes though) is all 100% performative. its learned behavior to get social currency (attention)
i am way too fascinated by things like this. hello jane goodall department. the real trip is what level of metacognition this person has and if theyre aware that they are doing this, or if its just been twelve to twenty years of instinctively doing this and they dont even realize

yes. its one of the best examples of the downside of the social proof heuristic where a feedback loop is created because people see empty shelves, figure other people are stocking up on X, wonder why they arent, and then panic, then other people see that panicking, and they panic
since people are posting about herd mentality + social perceptions of a situation + people responding to things as groups, heres an interesting story i have about that that i always think of when i hit that topic. taking a break from work in my carport rn btw its really nice out
so i was around, really close to, this shooting that happened in brooklyn once. i also had literally just come back from an ayahusca retreat w this, well they were kind of a cult, so not relevant but just an interesting set up. was not in the headspace first it, if anyone ever is

i feel bad for all the people that liked this that were into politics as a teenager but werent "anarchists" honestly have to designate that as an epic fail. these are all meme ideologies at that age but you really should have gone "all the way", not a good sign.
ontology recapitulates phylogeny. you have to start all the way at the beginning at caveman status and work your way up through the stages of civilization. you cant start in the middle of the story. this is why so many people are fucked up now.

Thread: Recently I was asked to appear on a conservative TV news show for their "capitalism vs. socialism" week. After explaining the basic premise of my argument, I was rescheduled & then canceled.

Here's why #capitalism vs. #socialism is an entirely wrong debate & dichotomy:
First off, no one agrees on (or even seems to understand) definitions of both systems. To quote @MikeBloomberg recently: "Anyone who believes that unfettered capitalism works hasn't read history."
I would add that anyone who believes socialism works also hasn't read history.
I'll spend more time debunking free-market capitalism as a reality (regardless of whether you actually agree with it or not), as that seems to warrant more explanation.

KEY POINT: No country in the world exercises totally unfettered, free market capitalism. Let me explain why:

Interestingly, the moral valence people attach to exchange, markets and money is a well established topic in the economic sociology, Econ anthro, behavioral Econ & law & Econ literature, with some interesting results for how capitalism operates.
The work of Viviana Zelizer, Nina Bandelj, Alya Guseva, Daniel Cohen, Guido Calabresi, Michael Polanyi, Nigel Dodd, Ole Bjerg, Noam Yuran, Georg Simmel and others is paradigmatic here.
Markets and exchange are largely viewed morally negatively, and seen as sullying relationships & morals. This mentality is, by and large, shared by conservatives, capitalists, fascists, liberals, leftists, and others alike. (Hence the Sorelian style anti market fash)
