Washington state is reporting 21 cases of #COVID19 and 9 deaths. The public should not assume that this means there is a 36% fatality rate, but rather there is a growing population of undetected cases. Adequate testing would confirm this. cbsnews.com/live-updates/c…
If the population of those infected with #COVID19 in Washington state shares the same death rate found in China Washington state is looking at approximately 391 infected individuals.
Using the same math as above, but applying the reported death rate seen in South Korea (~0.5) and the the number of undetected cases of #Covid_19 cases in Washington State bloats to 1,800 people.
As public figures rush to; gin up panic, irresponsibly downplay #Covid_19, or make the threat overtly political; the public needs robust testing to understand the scale of the population effected and then a throw everything at the wall approach to reduce transmissions.
