It now looks likely that Dems will nominate a centrist. What happened to the progressive surge? It wasn't "the establishment" and the big money — that went to Buttigieg and Bloomberg, with Biden getting very little $ support (which will now change) 1/
What happened instead was that Bernie and his backers seemed more into progressivism theater than into progressive pragmatism. "Hey, look at me! I'm a socialist! And you're all capitalist tools!" 2/
This now seems to have backfired as badly as you might have expected. If it seems disappointing that more hasn't changed, the Bernie crowd should take a hard look at their own choices 3/

A Wall Street correspondent writes "The reason long rates are going up have nothing to do with fiscal fears and everything to do with investors and corporates needing cash (to keep the lights on) and the only way to get cash at the moment is to sell your most liquid assets" 1/

A few notes on the economic situation this morning. First, market action overnight was weird. Interest rates up significantly, as if investors believed effective stimulus was coming — but stock futures way down, as if they believed the opposite. Wut? 1/
Mnuchin warns of 20% unemployment. That would require something like a 30% fall in GDP, in which case proposed stimulus wildly inadequate. On the other hand, he may have just invented a number out of thin air, with no understanding of what it means 2/ cnbc.com/2020/03/18/mnu…

🇺🇸🗳️ Mais les sondages nationaux ont peu d’importance à ce stade : si un candidat crée la surprise lors d’une des premières primaires, il peut impulser une dynamique à sa campagne (le « momentum ») qui l’avantagera lors des scrutins suivants.

Critical point here is that the MSM is claiming that #Sanders "came within a handful of votes" of #HillaryClinton, when he lost in a landslide of 4M votes, 1k pledged delegates (not SDs) and a dozen states.

This false narrative harms #Sanders--it's meant to highlight how badly he's doing in 2020 and prop up #Biden. But Sanders is actually doing better than in 2016. There are just more players. And Biden is being replaced by a younger centrist, #Buttigieg.
