After hanging out in #Detroit's predominantly Latino neighborhood the last two days, I was struck by how so many people kept telling me that they're all supporting @BernieSanders and that people should step back for a minute and wait until #MichiganPrimary is over next Tuesday.
These voters, all these Latinos (even older ones), about 10-15 of them, shared a general view that #SuperTuesday had them thinking of what their vote will be, but that they will at least vote on Tuesday but they are not sure if they will vote in November.
They all said that @JoeBiden has a lot of work to do to repair his relationship with Latinos, yes, even in Southwest Detroit. They were adamant about Obama/Biden admin deportation legacy. Remember, Detroit is a border city.
And Michigan ranks second in states with most ICE arrests (2019 data). In Southwest, immigration enforcement is a daily part of life.
And I also spoke with several young people last night during live @InTheThickShow recording in #Detroit and everyone of them (about 12 of them) were for @BernieSanders and a few of them told me that young people have to come out and vote on Tuesday in #Michigan
Am just sharing this because I asked people about their vote and they wanted to share and TBH, I was surprised how they kept defending Sanders after #SuperTuesday
There was also genuine love here for @ewarren, and we got a few questions as to why she didn't do better.
I will say this again, I heard a lot of Latino voters in #Southwest #Detroit tell me that they will vote for Sanders on Tuesday in #MichiganPrimary but if Biden is the nominee, they won't vote in November. At some point, who knows when, Biden campaign has to address that concern.
