Kari Kolstoe is desperate. She has stage 4 cancer, (weakened immune system) & is onboard the Grand Princess Cruise-ship with 21 coronavirus patients. The ship is off the N. Calif. coast. Kari has no symptoms but needs to get off to receive chemo. Cc: @kevincramer @gavinnewsom
She has a chemo appointment March 10 that she can't afford to miss. Kari is from Fargo, North Dakota. She's reached out to her U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer in hopes that he can help her in being evacuated from the ship.
Right now, she and her husband are getting all their information from the media. Not much is being provided on board the ship, she says, other than food and water which is placed at their door. They are not allowed to leave their room. Presently, Kari does not feel sick.
One of her relatives reached out to me hoping that I would share her story. I interviewed her right away and am sharing in hopes of getting her help.
Right now federal officials are keeping the ship off of the California coast until they can figure out what to do.
Update: the cruise line tell CBS News: "...a critically ill U.S. guest and their travel companion were medically disembarked from Grand Princess earlier this morning by a U.S. Coast Guard cutter. They are being transported to a shoreside medical facility."
