Italy has around 5000 ICU beds, and I assume around 65% of them were already occupied with non-coronavirus patients. That leaves less than 2000 ICU beds in the country. I’m also guessing they cannot transport infected patients to empty ICU beds in non-infected areas.

This is why an Italian doctor, in righteous anger, has put out a video begging people to stay home, saying "there are too many people out." They're a hair away from being in the red area vs. the blue.
I think we need to call our representatives and demand to know what's being done about this. Demand concrete information on how many tests we can expect, and how and when, and if they have any kind of plan. Also, if you have any skills that will help, think about that too.

I don’t know how much more clear this can be. The health system in Italy is on the verge of collapse. And that is with containment measures and thousands of tests, and some of the world’s best hospitals. We have done nothing.
Not only have we done nothing, this admin has taken steps that exacerbate the situation.

On Saturday evening Feb. ), Tencent, on its webpage titled "Epidemic Situation Tracker", showed confirmed cases of novel coronavirus in China as standing at 154,023, 10 times the official figure at the time. It listed suspected cases as 79,808, four times the official figure.
