This is serious, friends. What’s happening to China, South Korea & Italy will be us in 2-4 weeks time if we don’t mitigate the spread of the virus. Let’s do #MarchofMitigation, during March:

-Wash your hands like you’re about to do brain surgery (virus wall susceptible to soap).

-Don’t touch your face (the virus needs to enter through the nose and mouth.)

- Wipe down surfaces and common areas. (Virus can live up to 9 days on a surface.)

- Use alcohol hand sanitiser.

- Be cool. Don’t shake hands to reduce transmission. Signs, shaka, hand on heart, namaste, bow, wink. Anything but touching.

- Be anti-social. Just for the month of March, reduce meeting other people. Avoid conferences, gatherings and public places. Many things can be done via phone, email, teleconferencing, virtual meetings.

- Bunker down socially and this too shall pass. Remember that your personal act carries a social risk to others. Mortality rate is highest in the elderly and those with chronic medical condition. Check on them. #MarchofMitigation

If we bunker down in March, hopefully we will delay the peak and lower the severity so that our health care services can cope with this epidemic. Be antisocial in March and you’ll be helping mitigate the virus.

It’s hard. We’re all social beings. I’ve had to cancel my meetings in Sydney, France and Chicago, losing money along the way. But these meetings can be the superspreader points. It’s a real concern.

Be antisocial. We’ll forgive you for that.

Today I went to the shopping centre and played “Don’t touch anything” with the kids. Do not touch any public items or properties.
