In an effort to mitigate the spread of coronavirus, #UNC is extending spring break through Sunday, March 22, and will begin remote instruction on Monday, March 23. Carolina will remain open and operational, but we encourage students to remain off campus unc.live/2IDcwlZ
Beginning Monday, March 23, #UNC will transition as many classes as possible to remote instruction. Faculty and TAs will hear from the provost's office soon regarding resources that will help them deliver courses remotely
During the extended spring break, #UNC faculty will be working with staff, TAs, campus IT teams and the Center for Faculty Excellence to prepare to deliver coursework remotely. Instructors will give students more information in the coming week regarding coursework and assignments
#UNC's residence halls, dining halls, libraries and Campus Health will remain open, though we strongly encourage students who are able to take all their classes remotely to remain off campus. Additionally, campus events for more than 50 attendees are canceled
Carolina is also suspending University-affiliated travel outside the state of North Carolina. University travel within the state is permitted but must be limited to gatherings of 50 or fewer people. More guidance about this policy will be provided soon
There is no set end date for these new arrangements. We will constantly revisit and reevaluate our policies as the situation around COVID-19 changes. We want to emphasize that #UNC remains open and operational at this time
We realize this update presents challenges for many of you. We're committed to ensuring all Tar Heels can meet their academic requirements. This is not the Carolina experience we wanted for this semester, but #UNC must be cautious and do our part to prevent the spread of COVID-19
