Question that keeps coming up: Why so few cases in India? I've heard theories about the climate (see below), innate defense, even namaste 🙏. None of this is convincing. My response to the question is simple: It’s coming.
The subcontinent is a powder keg. Right now no country is more vulnerable to a widespread outbreak than India. (I say this from firsthand experience there). Worth repeating: Do not wait until the virus has spiraled to take action.
India is where China was in early January. But there’s one crucial difference: India lacks the levers to lockdown the country.
