When asked about my thoughts on the recorded case of #COVID19 in Nigeria, I said it was good the authorities were forthright about the disclosure because I know the world will soon be worried about the slow spread in Africa & it will be perceived as the worst of threats. ⛑

I will forever stay with @DrTedros’ and @WHO’s professional use of words which can be hard to misconstrue. The action word as per Africa is “low reportage” of incidents. How many of us actually go to the hospital to report a Flu or cold when off the counter meds are accessible?!

How many Nigerian Doctors will prioritize your call as an emergency if it borders on cold or flu? A country that does not even administer flu jabs to public. Kindly share if you had cough and catarrh this week alone and the action you took.

For those who watched my interview, I said the way we can succeed in Nigeria in fighting this will begin with accountability and transparency of the authorities. There’s been many holes in their story since the alleged outbreak in our side of the woods.

What has been the saving grace really was the hot weather and also because unlike Italy where people live with multilayered families, our old people live separately in the rural areas mostly as separate from the cities. We must educate the people more because “Winter” is here!
