4/Congress should not recess next week. It should stay here until the testing fiasco is fixed, and a clear plan settled on. We only have a few days to get this right or we will be Italy in two weeks. Close schools? Build emergency hospitals, produce more protective gear?
5/Wherever you live, call your Senators and House Members today and demand they produce a national plan including clarity about the testing problem before coming home. Tell them that if the President can't lead they need to put someone in there who can.
6/And let us for a moment thank the state and local officials who've had to tackle this crisis without a partner at the federal level. Their leadership has been heroic, inspiring; and we should all be publicly grateful for what they've done and will continue to do .
7/Finally, let us all thanks in advance and think about the health care professionals who are dealing with this crisis without the proper tools or preparation. They are on the front lines, and they and their families face a very tough road.
8/Parents with kids are in for a shock. Our college freshman will be home tomorrow for the rest of the semester. Our daughter's school is moving to remote instruction. Sports are shutting down, outside activities too. Do parents stay home? Can they? How does all this work?
