This day, 51 years ago, on 16th March 1968, was the My Lai massacre in Vietnam in which as many as 500 unarmed villagers were murdered by US Soldiers.

One of the many mistakes made by the Johnson Administration was to not recognise that Ho Chi Min was the highest ranking asset of Germany's DVD in Hanoi.
The Americans made the same mistake as the French did at Dien Bien Phu - the failure to recognise that the Chindit strategy of Long Range Penetration Groups, were backed up by German DVD assets who back in the home country betrayed operations at the critical time.
Had the US known that the true nationalities of the "Russian" North Vietnamese Mig-21 pilots were West and East German, it would have been easier to spot the real sponsor of events. MI6 knew, but they too were too heavily penetrated by German spies, to escalate the intel.
They found out during the Korean War when panicking Mig-15 pilots lapsed into German when being shot down. Only Russian or Vietnamese was used over Vietnam a decade later. Any captured US airman would have faced a German DVD interrogator & would necessarily have been executed
to cover up the deceit. The failure to understand this aspect of the enemy allowed narcotics-running to penetrate US operational forces. The DVD ran mind-altering drugs into the 1st Battalion of the 20th Infantry Regiment, Charlie Company -
just as the Abwehr they had done to the men in Britain's trenches in WW1 - with the tragic consequences for families of My Lai village. The UK's PM, Harold Wilson & his Cabinet Secretary, were both working for the German's & so few British soldiers ended up fighting in Vietnam.
Those that did, mostly from the SAS, did so as mock Australians with terrible Aussie accents. The domino effect of counter-intelligence failures took down Laos & Cambodia. Their Pol Pot reported to Beijing, but he must have been aware that Germany was behind the ChiComs.
According to Michael Shrimpton in Spyhunter "There were quite a few German assets in Indo-China - some were French, at least one was British, some were American together with several Germans. They tended to use commercial cover".
