Two vital points in the timeline of COVID-19 (Wuhan Coronavirus as it was then):

1) @WHO quoting "Chinese authorities" on Jan 14: no "human to human transmission"

2) As late as Jan. 29: @WHO "WHO advises against the application of any restrictions of international traffic"
The Chinese gov't used @WHO to pass along its false or misleading information that clearly led to the spread of the virus.

I don't think people are mystified. It's obvious the support is pragmatic. Non-evangelicals see evangelical support of Trump as confirmation of the stereotype of the Christian hypocrite, & evangelicals like myself who do not support Trump are disappointed with the opportunism.
Even if you believe Pres. Trump is being used by God (as all rulers are in God's sovereignty,) there is no scriptural basis for the kind of enthusiastic, proactive, uncritical, obsequious support that is shown by far too many evangelicals for Pres. Trump.
Nathan, John the Baptist, the Apostle Paul, Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego - they publicly called rulers to account for ungodly behavior, and they were all under totalitarian/monarchical systems of gov't.

2/ "The United States detains an average of 60 out of every 100,000 children in its justice system or immigration-related custody..."

Using this rate, and based on 74,200,000 children under 18 in the US (aecf.org/resources/the-…), that comes to only 44,520.
3/ According to Pew, border agents picked up 54,000 unaccompanied children in 2018 (pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2019…). Obviously there are fluctuations throughout the year, but it seems the US rate of detention is solely based on the fact people are sending kids to the US by themselves.

Finally sat down to read through the actual paper published by Chinese expert Zhong Nan-Shan, and here are some important summaries - 1. The median age of patients is 47 years old and 41.9 percent of them are women.
2. 1.18% of the patients in this study had direct contact with wildlife 31.3% of the patients have been to #Wuhan but 71.8% of the patients have contact with someone from #Wuhan.
3. As for symptoms, 87.9% of the patients have fevers and 67.7% of the patients would cough.
4. Diarrhea, on the other hand, is concluded as an uncommon symptom for #coronavirus patients. 5. Most importantly, the median incubation period is 3 days, but the range of incubation could go from 0 to 24 days.

In the last 3 weeks, the number of confirmed #2019nCoV cases has soared from ~50 in #China to 14,000 in 23 countries + 300 deaths.

The real number is much higher. Epidemiological models estimate that the real number of cases of #Wuhan #coronavirus is *100,000 or even more*.😳
The spread of #2019nCoV (≥14,000 new cases in ~3 weeks) is much faster than when SARS and MERS emerged.

SARS was vanquished in 2003 after spreading for 9 months with only 8,098 confirmed cases. MERS has been circulating since 2012, with only ~2,500 known cases.
