Let's talk about Twitter Bios for writers/screenwriters/creators. Two groups of awesome individuals jumped on video chats this week to workshop their bios, and here's the collective knowledge. (1/?)
Right now, our bios are basically our introductions. With everything going virtual, this is how we're meeting people. They need to be professional and specific.

Other ways to think about them are as a virtual business card or a logline for who you are and what you do. (2/?)
Your photo is important. We want to be able to recognize you when we're all able to be in the same room again. (And take advantage of your banner space, too. Don't let it just be a grey box.)

(3/?)
In terms of the bio itself, be specific! Everyone's writing is "interesting" or "creative." Those words tell us nothing. We're hired as much for who we are and our knowledge base/point of view as we are for the words we put on the page. (4/?)
What's the thread that connects all of your work? Essentially, what's your unique style and voice? When someone reads your bio, they should know what to expect from your work. Are you the genre writer using supernatural elements to illuminate the struggles of high school? (5/?)
Or, are you the comedy writer highlighting every day absurdities and misunderstandings the stem from being first-generation and straddling two worlds.

Maybe you're known for tight action sequences, character-driven films, or intricate plots full of surprising twists. (6/?)
Tell us what you do well. Sell yourself. You're the only one of you - help your people find you. And, if the bio can somehow tonally match your work - like if you're a comedy writer and it can make us laugh - all the better. (7/?)
On a more practical note, you can put a link directly in your bio now in addition to the standard link space Twitter provides, so if there are two things you want to link to, go for it. (8/?)
It's easier to remember and tag you if your handle matches/is close to your name. (Example: If your display name is "Michael" but your handle's @ cooldude123, I'm probably not going to remember that.) Don't make it hard for people to find you. (9/?)
And finally, if you need more real estate, use a pinned tweet. On most screens, people will see it when they first go to your page. (10/?)
Thanks again to everyone who jumped on the virtual workshops, and feel free to add to this list. But no matter what you choose to do, made sure your bio gives us a feel for you. (11/11)
