So, some positive news. I’m excited to announce that I will step in as Editor-in-Chief of the journal Chemical Senses as of April 1. So, here are a few reasons you should consider submitting your manuscript to #ChemicalSenses, as well as some new initiatives. (Please RT) 1/
#ChemicalSenses is the leading journal focused on research in all areas of chemosensation in humans and other vertebrate and invertebrate animals, including #olfaction, #taste, #chemesthesis, internal chemosensation and chemical ecology. 2/
#ChemicalSenses is the official journal of @AChemsinfo, @ECRO_online, the Japanese Association for the Study of Taste & Smell (JASTS), the Australasian Association for ChemoSensory Science (AACSS), and the Korean Society for Chemical Senses & Ingestive Behaviour (KSCSIBF). 3/
@AchemsInfo @ECRO_online The #ChemicalSenses Executive Editors and Editorial Board are leaders in the field. Submitted manuscripts get fair and knowledgeable reviews from people who know and appreciate the chemical senses. 4/
@AchemsInfo @ECRO_online Moving forward, increased diversity in the #ChemicalSenses editorial team will be a priority, ensuring that the leadership of the journal reflects the perspectives, experiences, expertise and talents of our field. 5/
@AchemsInfo @ECRO_online Submissions to #ChemicalSenses do not have to match house style (though you must include all the required manuscript sections), speeding your time to submission. Upon acceptance, you can supply editable and high-res files suitable for publication. 6/
@AchemsInfo @ECRO_online And if you like to preprint your work, that’s great! #ChemicalSenses considers submissions of manuscripts that have been posted on preprint servers such as #BioRxiv or #PeerJ. 7/
@AchemsInfo @ECRO_online Manuscript review is quick, with an average time from submission to initial decision of xx days! And papers are published online as Advance Access w/in ~24 hrs of acceptance. If you need to get your work published quickly, #ChemicalSenses is an excellent option. 8/
@AchemsInfo @ECRO_online Ugh…that’s an average of 32 days from submission to initial decision!
@AchemsInfo @ECRO_online #ChemicalSenses, which is now entirely online, has no submission fees, page charges or charges for color figures. So, this is also a very cost-effective publishing option. Open Access publishing is available for an additional fee. 9/
@AchemsInfo @ECRO_online Post-publication publicity is important to help a paper gain an audience and citations. We are working to develop ways, via social media or other platforms, to better tell the broader scientific and lay communities about the exciting work published in #ChemicalSenses. 10/
@AchemsInfo @ECRO_online The #ChemcialSenses editorial team will also be developing new strategies to regularly engage with the members of the chemosensory research community to better gauge your needs, get your buy-in on new initiatives, and solicit specific submissions. 11/
@AchemsInfo @ECRO_online The editorial team and I welcome your insights and suggestions about how Chemical Senses can best serve the chemosensory community. Please reach out to ChemSensesEIC@gmail.com. 12/
@AchemsInfo @ECRO_online I look forward to hearing from you, and to working with you to publish great chemical senses research. 13/
@AchemsInfo @ECRO_online And a final note for those #ChemicalSenses authors who may be delayed in responding to reviews due to the impact of COVID-19. It’s ok. Please just request an extension at chemse.editorialoffice@oup.com . We are happy to grant an extension if you need it. 14/fin
