I’ve now heard from >80 hospitals & first responders who are *desperate* for N95 masks.

On the one hand I’m so happy to be getting them masks. (from China, where they’re cheap and plentiful)

On the other hand, I have never been more angry with my own fucking gov’t.
How is it possible that I can get more N95 masks for hospitals through private donations and my fucking Twitter account than our state and federal gov’t can supply?

What the hell are state health depts DOING?

What the hell is Azar DOING (other than kissing Trump’s ass)?
Gotta get some sleep. Keep the DMs coming and I’ll respond to everyone in the morning. We can do this.

Masks for all HCWs.
Tests for all PUIs.

I really think that’s how we win this war.

My thoughts? My thoughts are that this article is a crock of hot steaming shit, and the editors who chose to publish it will live with a stain on their souls for the rest of their lives.
The core "analysis" of this article is to extrapolate from the CV-19 infection rates of Western expat evacuees to ALL of Wuhan, then reject the official Chinese case numbers but accept the official Chinese death numbers.

It's just idiotic.

Two weeks of CV-19 in Dallas. 169 cases.

37% under 40 yo.
36% hospitalized.
13% go to ICU.
6% go on ventilator.
3% die.

Of course, my favorite part of this obscene Collin County court order creating a state of "emergency" in North Dallas is the oddly specific prohibition on frequenting massage parlors.

We get through this crisis by relaxing economic restrictions AFTER a region has experienced hotspot status, not before.

And that relaxation of economic restrictions MUST by accompanied by constant and ubiquitous testing.

This is the formula that saves lives & saves the economy.

What's different about China's GDP number?
Is China growing at 6% as it lets everyone else believe?
Can China come out of this without devaluing its currency?
1/ #China’s GDP is an input number and not an output figure like in western economies. National accounts are based on data collected by local governments which are rewarded for meeting growth targets; hence, they have an incentive to skew the data they provide to the Central Gov.
2/ Looking at different data sets one will see that #China is merely growing. PMI sentiment is falling fast; a number below 50 denotes a contraction and not an expansion as the GDP growth rate suggests. Manufacturing (49.8) & New Export Orders (48.2) have already fallen below 50.
