There is much to learn from this.

Believe it when Tr says he wants to "open the country". Believe them that they prefer death for those in the way of their "more".

Their imagination does not extend any further than their self-interest & limited axiomatic understanding of life.
So many lines that need to be explicated. Just this one for now:
"We cannot sacrifice our whole country...".
This is a recurrent theme. Starting to hear it in the Senate, and Trump in his daily nonsense spews pretending to be "press conferences".

To me, this is prime example
why we **must** review our recent history, despite the self-serving calls to "don't try to figure out what happened, we need to move on now".

The reason we are in the dilemma of (supposedly) "sacrificing the entire country" in responding to the Corona crisis is because of the
**PATHETIC**, anemic, idiotic, delusional response to it by the leaders at the highest levels. We are all aware of the litany...

It is directly due to this deadly 'failure of response' and the related 'failure of imagination' predicated upon a corroded foundation of one mans
deadly ego that actions that could have been taken, should have been taken, to prepare and meet the moment simply were not.

A man who thinks himself a genius, who "governs" (if that is not too august a word for what actually is happening) by his ignorant "hunches"
proves, on a daily basis, that he is anything but a genius. He is a virus that has got into the seat of power and is running amok, unconstrained by normal processes.

Even now he refuses to tell the truth about anything. Masks? Already available by the millions, he says.
Ventilators? Why anyone can have one, just ask. Testing? There is no shortage or lack of testing.

And these are just the top-level lies that have been the context of this administration's, and this frail man's response to the moment.
If this had not been the way the GOP decided to deal with this crisis; if this had been in more competent hands we would not be faced with the dilemma this fellow cites, nor the solution he advocates.
We would not be facing the death-dealing consequences of the utter incompetence characteristic of the original response, and that continues right up to the present moment.
Thus my conclusion: We must pay attention to what Trump and those of his ilk are telling us. They are quite prepared to sacrifice the economy for yet another corporate bailout. Willing to let people die for lack of their preparation and leadership.
We need to believe what they are telling us, and act/respond accordingly.
More examples...
There are even more when you include references to Health Care.
I suspect some psychologists would have a useful perspective on this syndrome. From out here it looks like
"we need people to die, I'll pretend I would, but it is your turn"
