/ So, what will we regret not doing today when we look back in two weeks? #coronavirus perspective.
/ Cordon sanitaire of NYC and messaging and planning aggressively for the other hot spots about to jump into exponential growth (like it appears New Orleans might).
/ Disaster mortuary response team mobilization. Testing capacity, serological blood tests, and clarifying that we do NOT seek to achieve one single standard or single, across-the-board deadline of an Easter return to work.
/ The return to work is necessary, but must be done thoughtfully. Let’s stick to our plan and not vacillate. People are paying a high cost. Some losing their jobs. Some their lives. When it’s all over, we want them and their loved ones to see the benefits.
/ What @POTUS got right with the first 15 days--clear, actionable guidance for America--he can achieve again with similar guidance for the period ahead, even if its application looks different in places. Some cities will stay the path, others will have to take a different path.
/ Great Britain started by playing chicken with this virus. Their plan was, for a brief moment, to allow Curve 1 to wash over them until their population achieved herd immunity. Take it on the chin, or the stiff upper lip, whichever idiom you prefer.
/ Then, they flinched. And rightly so. Now they are attempting to achieve Curve 2, the approach that does not--if timely and properly implemented--overwhelm the healthcare system.
/ The U.S. should avoid the British experience in reverse. We set out to achieve Curve 2, knowing the economic cost. Let's not change course without an adequate plan and accidentally find ourselves in Curve 1. That will cost money AND lives.
/ In other words, let’s not pay this high cost and then fail to achieve the health benefits.
/ We must plan for a careful, controlled, and geographically staggered (resource prioritized) return, and we must resource that plan to ensure we have the capacity to execute it. As @NIH Dr. Fauci said, “you need to evaluate the feasibility of what you want to do.”
/ The return plan requires controlled testing, contact tracing, isolation (not at home) and quarantine.

Lastly, all of the above plus PPE.
/ As we focus (rightly) on NYC, we must be mindful of the quickly burgeoning needs of other areas like New Orleans and Atlanta that don't have the resources of NYC, and parts of CA that face the staggering realities of large numbers. A few other troubling places as well.
/ The relief bill from Congress is profoundly important to remove economic disincentives. Thanks for the hard work of its Members, staff and leadership @senatemajldr @SenSchumer @GOPLeader @SpeakerPelosi and the tireless input from Secretary @stevenmnuchin1.
/ Easter might prove instructive for all faiths. It's a story of doubt, darkness, suffering, and loss (that tested the faith of even the faithful), followed by a hopeful resurrection. Let’s give God some assistance on this one. He gave us the capacity to solve this problem.
