Took a solo run in my eery downtown Brussels neighbourhood. If you’re a nostalgic commuter.. enjoy what it looks like in “lockdown” mode at sundown. #NoFilter

Since you seem to enjoy my “shots from the hip” while running in Brussels, I’ll add some extra with free observations & thoughts.
1/ Streets are all empty & air quality is great (no more car pollution). My body feels the difference (or I run faster due to Zombie apocalypse fear?)

2/ Fellow runners: let’s agree that in these conditions it makes no more sense to run your usual rounds in the “Royal Park”. Authorities clearly closed the “benches”, so it makes no sense to run so near to each other + cross in opposite directions. Entire @CityBrussels is yours!

3/ There is so much space in when you remove cars in town. Mind boggling! Let’s all agree we don’t waste this painful crisis to go back to ‘normal’ afterwards. Great reboot opportunity to put public health>outdated economic interests. @BartDhondt plz use timing for traffic cuts🙏🏻

4/ We’re still building larger office buildings.. but with this « forced drill » to discover « work from home » + availibilty of flexible local coworkings the need for large HQs will diminish and request to work (close) from home will remain. Office market will never be same..

PS Depicted building is a bad example of my prediction, because @BNPPFBelgie will actually regroup their staff from many other rented offices into this upgrades HQ. With hindsight it was a very forward looking move..

5/ Hotel Metropole is one of the eldest luxury hotels in Brussels (& hosted famous Solvay conferences with Curie, Einstein & long list of Nobel prize scientists) but not a single room occupied at 19h55. Tourism industry bleeds.. How do we support & what do we keep (less airbnb?).

6/ Special thanks to all those who work in crucial jobs during this crisis. I clapped at 20h00 (while running on empty pietonier) and confirm the entire city is rooting for you!
