Thousands, perhaps millions of people video-calling colleagues and friends are getting a window into private spaces they've likely never seen before, seeing pets, children, partners, room mates.
Suddenly the internet is intimate in a way they didn't expect. It's not the same or as good as physical contact, but it's real and damn necessary. People online aren't just pixels on a screen but human beings. That's going to be a perspective shift for many.
And hopefully, those windows into other worlds that are both familiar and intimately alien might help us all appreciate the fact that "online" *is* "real life." When we get to the other side of this, that'll make the world a slightly nicer place, I hope.
