We have known what we needed to since late January: Novel respiratory SARS-like virus with high transmissibility and 10-20x the fatality rate of flu.

And like clockwork I’ve got the “But China.....” crowd tweeting back, as if that absolves the US from making wise (and frankly obvious) judgments amidst uncertainty. In fact it just underscores the depth of the irresponsibility at play here.
If this were a military security scenario rather than a health security scenario, would we accept an argument of “we saw a possible invasion force marching in our direction, but we didn’t prepare our defenses because they weren’t transparent about where they were headed”??
Trump is the Neville Chamberlain of the COVID pandemic, and the travel bans are his “peace in our time.”
