He closed the schools, he admitted this week, because the crisis caught him off guard. That probably was not a “smart” move, Cuomo now says. Cuomo boasts that his state is the “front door” for foreign travelers coming to the US and that’s why NYC has so many cases. But...
he and DeBlasio did nothing to stop potentially infected travelers from coming to NYC as virus spread in other countries. He did nothing to prepare NYCs already overwhelmed hospital system—nurses threatened to strike last year due to untenable conditions. And ventilators?
In 2015, NY was notified they had too few ventilators but refused to buy more. Cuomo admitted this week his state only had 4,000 (!?) and just bought 7,000 more but wants Trump to fix Cuomo’s lack of preparedness. No attaboys:
