"In Crisis, Opportunity for Obama". That's the headline to a famous 2008 @WSJ article about President-elect Obama and the economic crisis at the time. The @RahmEmanuel line "you never want a serious crisis go to waste"is from it.

This is a thread of the opportunities that will hopefully come from this crisis. There's a commonly used trope about how the Chinese word for crisis and opportunity is the same. It's not true. What is true is that today's crisis was mainly caused by China & the WHO. 2/
1st: Stop funding the WHO. They ignored Taiwan early & slow played the dangers all for fear of losing what little cooperation they get from China. (Meanwhile, Taiwan has only 2 deaths.) Blood is on the WHO's hands. dailycaller.com/2020/03/20/who… 3/
"Buy American" is a must for certain products. Big Pharma & others who shifted to China put us at risk on essential products like antibiotics.
Peter Navarro exposed the @PhRMA parasites who are lobbying against this initiative. Ghouls cnbc.com/2020/03/19/cor… 4/
Modernize our infrastructure now. A bipartisan issue. Take advantage of this time to invest in roads/bridges/tunnels/rail/air. Trump should issue an EO and put a guy like Ken Langone in charge who could work with governors on both sides. Helps with unemployment too. Win/win 5/
"Buy American" & Infrastructure modernization is also about restoring our manufacturing at home. Imagine retrofitting a shuttered factory in Ohio so that it can produce antibiotics or medical equipment. Make it a public/private partnership. Americans will get behind this. 6/
Improve screening at airports and ports of entry with biometric temperature scanning. The technology is available and in use already. Chine is already using it. forbes.com/sites/jeremybo… 7/
We'll see lower rates of illnesses like cold/flu due to increased hand washing and less handshaking/bro hugs. (A slow bow is much cooler anyway. Try it).
Japan’s lack of handshaking (and mask wearing) is seen as a reason they haven’t been hit as hard as some predicted. 8/
Hands free/gesture/voice recognition technology will become more common especially in busy places like airports/hotels/shopping. Why should we all be knuckling the same keypad at the Walmart checkout? Madness. 9/
Remote learning is here to stay. This crisis will hopefully finally end the "go away to college" for four prime earning years so you can be $100K+ in debt scam. Many colleges won't survive... and that's perfectly fine. 10/
Finally, problem solvers & creators will always be rewarded for their ingenuity. Now more than ever. Invest in yourself, learn new skills, build your network, start a business, etc. The opportunities are there. END
