Is everyone still crushing on Andrew Cuomo?

As far as I can tell, $400 million in Medicaid cuts are still happening during the worst pandemic in 100 years.
Every genre of Andrew Cuomo praise, from our nation's esteemed pundits and columnists, prizes style over substance. There's little discussion of actions taken or not taken, the policy record. Cuomo is evaluated like some kind of art object.

It would be a good use of @AOC's clout to challenge Andrew Cuomo on Medicaid cuts. So far, I haven't seen anything. Cuomo wants to enshrine cuts in the budget, due April 1st, so time is ticking.

As Bernie Sanders reaches the do-or-die moment of his political career, I can't help think that he could've framed his candidacy better. In truth, he isn't a radical and he's built a career working with Democrats and even Republicans. That message was never stressed.
Bernie Sanders isn't a communist. He's a socialist in the vaguest of ways. He is certainly not a British socialist or someone advocating the nationalizing of industries, the seizing of the means of production.

He's a New Deal Democrat running on an FDR agenda. That's really it.
He never registered as a Democrat but he's been a member of the Democratic conference his whole congressional career. He voted for Obamacare. He worked with John McCain. He's been a pretty normal progressive legislator!

But his campaign never stressed that and here we are.

Mike Bloomberg is operating beyond the laws of political gravity. A normal campaign needs to make crucial decisions about allocating resources. They live in an either/or world.

Bloomberg does not. This is a dangerous thing for competitive democracy
A normal campaign must decide: Who do I hire? Can I afford them? Do a buy a negative TV ad, a positive one, or how much do I do on TV vs. field?

Bloomberg does not have to make these choices. He can afford literally anything he wants to. There is no limit. We've never seen this
At some point, Michael Bloomberg will grow a bit tired of just airing ads promoting himself and attacking Donald Trump. Especially if Bernie Sanders remains resilient.

Who's to say Bloomberg can't spend $1 billion promoting himself and ~another~ billion attacking Bernie on TV?

Just watched a segment on the "state of the race" by PBS. They literally cycled through every candidate except Bernie Sanders.

Remarkable
Bernie Sanders is this guy who is probably the second most likely candidate to win the Democratic nomination. Not a mention from a @PBS segment on 2020. Panel of reporters have yet to say his name. This is kind of surreal
Like, I am trying to be pure pundit here. My own politics are way to the left of Biden and I think Biden is a real front-runner. Bernie Sanders consistently polls second or third in national and state by state polls. He's a prolific fundraiser. This @PBS segment blew my mind.

1. This is going to be a personal thread about the experience of working at the intersection of infectious disease modeling and the study of misinformation during the worst pandemic in a century.

If you're just interested in what is happening with the virus, you can skip it.
2. I spent the decade from 2000-2009 or so working with an amazing team of people around the world to develop the epidemiological modeling infrastructure to help us detect and forecast emerging infectious diseases in real time so as to stop them in their tracks if possible.
3. We had some pretty scary moments (weeks or months, really) where we didn't know if we were on the cusp of the Big One. SARS. H5N1 clusters. H1N1 swine flu before we knew the case fatality rate.

But we never had the feeling that we had already stepped off the diving board.

With the 2014-6 #Ebola outbreak, I wonder what combination of the 90% mortality rate or the point of origin played in the lack of resistance to enforced quarantine for those returning from abroad?
