During distance learning, we don’t get a pass on cultural competence. Here's what NOT to do. A school administrator at Red Hawk Ridge Elementary that serves a large # of families of color @CCSDK12 thought it would be funny to come to a virtual family hr in a MAGA hat. WTH?! 
This is a big fail for @CCSDK12 leadership that purports to be equity-focused but offers no public comment or reprimand. This is the time when engaging parents in culturally responsive ways is critical to maintain trust & open communication. Thanks @yesmsbenson for the heads up
Now, if MAGA is your flavor, you’re welcome to it, but that symbol has NO place in a public school setting in a district advocating inclusion, especially when many parents of color, especially those who are immigrants, Muslim, or in the LGBTQ community see it as a dog whistle.
