GDP(Gross Domestic Product) = total output of UK #economy, on which vital tax-take depends. HMG needs our tax (from companies, employees, householders) to fund OUR public services. Flat GDP growth (low % uplift) means less capability to fund services on which we depend!

I wasn't intending on tweeting the symposium, but 2 really good points on skills:

🔹 For communications, the ability to be brief (tweet length summaries!) is key

🔹 Universities should promote organic mentorship by leveraging alumni office, get alums to meet students over ☕!
🔹 Skills development has strong socio-economic dimension. Accessibility to good schooling even as early as Kindergarten can have large impacts later in life. The foundation of transferable (read: critical) skills stays with you as you later develop expertise.

IBM is accused of firing older workers. This is really about money - and doesn't just apply to IBM. Many companies sneakily create practices, communications & policies (like not subsidizing family health coverage)to discourage hiring older workers.

In most careers, there comes an inflection point where junior employees can do the same job (or ~80% of it) for way less.

Threat hunting means to proactively search for malware or attackers that are hiding in your network — and may have been there for some time.
Most time, the goals of these malware or attackers can be to quietly siphoning off data, patiently listening in for confidential information, or working their way through the network looking for credentials powerful enough to steal key information.
