.@lakshmiunwomen: The #UN is more than the sum of the power dynamics of the most influential member states. And how they act—or choose to not act—affects the UN’s role.
.@ShashiTharoor: The #UN is not a single entity; it is an unusual institute. It is a stage, where the member states play their part. When member states agree, the UN transforms into an actor.
.@danielocarmon: Since the years the #UN was set up, the regulations have made the member states very influential in setting the stage for the Secretariat to be more limited than what it can do.
.@danielocarmon: The #UN member states came to one place to do better for the whole world. However, it takes time to understand that each member state holds its flag very strongly, setting its policies as per its national interests.
.@danielocarmon: The #UN is comprised of many “tensions”: Between developed and developing countries; between the Secretariat and the membership; and the ones who contribute the most to the budget and those who contribute lesser.
.@AraratMirzoyan: We should define what we mean by the crisis of #multilateralism. Are the regional organisations part of this crisis or is this limited to organisations with universal representation?
.@AraratMirzoyan: The #UN is a child of war. It was born from the ashes of World War II, with the promise to prevent the horrors of that war from ever being repeated.
.@AraratMirzoyan: We are facing many global challenges, and we should keep the system of #multilateral diplomacy. But at the same time, we should understand that the organisation should not work in a business as usual mode.
Jane Holl Lute: People earlier sought the protection of #sovereigns from marauding sovereigns. Now, people seek the protection of outsiders from marauding sovereigns.
Jane Holl Lute: The government has lost the corner in the market on many aspects: The control of legality, the control of capital and the control of rule-making.
Charles Kupchan: We are moving into an era in which there will be new #geopolitical divisions in a world in which power is much more widely distributed.
Charles Kupchan: #Europe and America have been the dominating power centres for several decades. Now, there will be two blocs: A liberal international order on one side, and the autocratic capitalist order on the other side.
Charles Kupchan: The liberal international order is not what it used to be. Populism & illiberalism are here to stay & the political landscape has changed. There is no readiness for countries to come together & build multilateral institutions as there used to be.
.@GeoffreyOnyeama: The #IndiaAfrica Forum Summit (#IAFS) process is aimed at developing a precise roadmap that responds to the priorities of #African countries. #India can share its technological know-how which will boost our substantial partnership.
.@LynnKuok: The #US has put working towards a common cause with its closest allies at the centre of advancing its national interest. The strength of the US as well as its partners matter.
.@carlbildt: If you look at the handling of the #Russia crisis, we are flying together. We are closer than in the past, covering all aspects of #security. There is a significant strengthening of #NATO and #transatlantic aspects of security.
.@RVlahutin: We have gone through multiple crises in the last few years—but they have served as great catalysers. We have seen how the #EU is shaping its response to these crises, and the EU is now at a moment of reckoning. #Raisina2022
.@RVlahutin: Infrastructure is a strategic tool & we have to treat it like that. Connectivity is not just primarily about things like railways, but it is also about the system of values underpinned by transparency, stability & the ability to make sovereign choices

A key reason for the growth of the passion #economy is that it offers alternative ways of making money, innovative paths toward professional fulfilment & unprecedented career opportunities, writes @utkarsh_amitabhor-f.org/103498
Kwati Candith Mashego-Dlamini: In #SouthAfrica, we have space for #women & struggle side by side with men. #Women need to be seen as individuals. Empowerment of women is not a side agenda, but we need to focus on how we can help them have their own space & strength. #Raisina2022
.@ctgchatter: We require political will, affirmative action, and policy changes to empower #women. I believe, empowered women, empower women.
