Cassions, massive underground cofferdams were built to keep out water. This has worked ever since.

And finally, in 1889, the #WorldsFair started and was a huge hit. Little is left now. Even the 1878 Palais de Trocadero was torn down ~1935 and replaced by the monumental Palais de Chaillot in 1937.
