+ basic #ableism centering identity on work and productivity. Normalize telling your friends and family when you’re not ok. Normalize telling your caregivers. Normalize taking a break. Normalize asking for help, normalize receiving it. #RIPBlakeHounsell

I followed @blakehounshell + did not know him or his struggle. My #PTSD #CPTSD #ADHD #majordepression give me (maybe?) insight: asking for + getting help is hard; systems fail; misdiagnosis happens; ableism + #stigma, internalized + not, are real. #RIPBlakeHounshell

Covering wars, violence, oppression, etc. causes #trauma (+ interviewing trauma survivors => secondary trauma). How trauma-informed are our workplaces? Welcoming + inclusive of people living with disabilities? There are structural issues here too. #RIPBlakeHounshell

We must address the intersecting issues of unending wars, violence + pandemic + resulting trauma, as well as #ableism, #mentalillness #stigma, masculinity / stoicism / rugged individualism, #disability inclusion + accessibility. @blakehounshell #suicide #RIPBlakeHounshell

Whatever @blakehounshell was going thru, he was not weak — #suicide feels like the only choice to someone in terrible pain, seeing no way out. You don’t understand if you’ve never ideated. It’s a terrifying pain. But more #stigma + #ableism won’t help. #RIPBlakeHounshell

#Suicide is a collective + a systems responsibility / failure too. Advocate for, co-create inclusive+ equitable traumainformed healthcare + workplaces. Normalize vulnerability + compassion. End #stigma + #ableism everywhere. #RIPBlakeHounshell @blakehounshell
