Here we go. The most comprehensive thread on the Russia/Facebook/Twitter situation. [megathread]
It all started in 2014. Activists were being silenced regularly on Facebook. I sat out 14 thirty day bans in 18 months.
Huge names in activism were banned.

We have @ShaunKing

I could go in with this list for several more tweets, but you get the idea.

I started asking WHY. Why would Facebook willingly lose revenue
So, I had a hunch maybe Russia had something to do with it.

Black folx were trying to tell us something.

As usual, we didn't listen.
Lo and behold, what do I find?

Russians. A Russian oligarch, to be exact.

A creepy Russian oligarch.

Not that Yuri Milner isn't any less horrifyingly devious.
There are many ties between people in our government to Facebook.

There's Peter Thiel.
cnbc.com/2017/08/08/ree…
There's FBI Director Christopher Wray, whose law firm represented Gazprom.

usatoday.com/story/opinion/…
Usmanov is credited with almost singlehandedly securing Gazprom as state owned for Putin.
Here's a map for those that are more visual.
As you can see, Carter Page also has close ties to Gazprom.

politico.com/magazine/story…
Way in the corner there, you might notice Steve Mnuchin.

He, too, owns Facebook stock.
In the middle of all this tomfoolery, we have Goldman Sachs.

dealbook.nytimes.com/2011/01/02/gol…
And more Goldman Sachs. Three ex Goldman Sachs bankers, to be exact. They invest in DST Global. With Usmanov.

So, back to activists being silenced.

How's the best way to do that?

Tailor your TOS to protect them.

theguardian.com/news/2017/may/…
Tailor your TOS to protect attack bots.

Attack bots that spend all day reporting activists.

thestranger.com/slog/2017/08/1…
Think its impossible?

Not really. Just buy up the birthplace of the bot, and learn all the dirty tricks.

Yep. ICQ folks.
And if you're a Russian that wants to swing people through emotion, & gather their data, grab em by the Farmville.

mobile.nytimes.com/2009/12/16/tec…
You get right in their ear with Spotify, and learn what music they like to get down to.

businessinsider.com/yuri-milner-ds…
And then? You invite those you're protecting over for a hoedown.

adl.org/blog/american-…
Then, you start allowing in fake accounts that buy ads. And pay in Rubles.

Because that isn't odd at all.

palmerreport.com/politics/ruble…
And you buy Twitter stock and do the same to that platform.

google.com/amp/s/www.forb…
And you weaponize bots and ads there.

cnn.com/videos/politic…
And you take $70m in ad revenue from the US presidential candidate your Russian president backs.
And let's not forget the timeline here, folks.

2009. That was the year DST started buying social media.

Same year Magnitsky was murdered.
The Magnitsky Act is signed into law in 2012.

If you remember, Trump aimed to run in that election and dropped out.
The first tinkering of Facebook TOS was 2009.

Coincidence that's the year Yuri Milner bought in?

consumerist.com/2009/02/15/fac…
Yuri Milner is the guy that believes he who owns the algorithm rules the world.
Russians play a long game. Always have.

This is no different.

And because we didn't listen to Black folx, were in this mess.
Zuckerberg is no saint. He's a greedy, self-serving toad. Who likes to hang out with Russians.
Mueller knows what I know.

npr.org/2017/09/22/552…
And now you do, too.
Because I messed up the thread.

Continued:

One day I'll get proficient at threading. Not today, though.
Here's a storify, because i just cant thread to save my ass.
