There's been some chat this week about whether public are now more left-wing than media, based mostly on poll support for nationalisation...
This chat glossed over the genius of Labour's manifesto, which was none of its tax rises hit 'Middle England' or even the quite wealthy.
It ruled out tax rises on 95% of earners, and also eschewed a mansion tax. The tax rises were deliberately on super-rich & corporations.
So if we are asking the question: do voters accept need for tax rises on themselves to pay for better public services...it's still untested.
Voters presumed that any costs in Labour manifesto would not fall on them. Echoes of Brexit in that respect.
