1/ Sentimental moment. Am foreigner in UK. Lived here on/off total 5 y. My profession as trade expert dragged me deep into #Brexit debate
2/ Everything shld make me reject & loathe UK at moment, including how I personally will b treated as EU citizen. Yet paradoxically
3/ I hv never felt so much 'love' & attachment to this country. I feel it is going thru a tragedy & I am now really getting under its skin
4/ Rarely made so many friends, too.
5/ I am sincerely worried about its politics, though there is so much positive force too so I allow myself to be cautiously optimistic.
6/ it s a lesson for open constructive people here in not being complacent and fightin foe what u stand for.

1. There are plenty of #Brexit threads kicking around now on why the WTO option is bad. Unless you live in a cave or have the IQ of a halibut, you should by now have grasped the concept of what it means to be a third country and why that is ruinous for UK exporters.
2. You'll note that in the seventeen billion threads I've written on the subject that I seldom make reference to tariffs - because tariffs for the most part are neither here nor there. This is fundamentally about regulatory barriers where again the cave/halibut question kicks in.
3. Without full regulatory harmonisation there will be inspections, standard third country controls will kick in and there are no WTO rules that compel the EU to relax them and certainly not for the sole benefit of the UK. This is why we need a comprehensive agreement with the EU

1. The ultra brexiters are going all out for their WTO option #Brexit. They are gradually pushing the narrative that anything including a withdrawal agreement is a betrayal of Brexit and their thicko followers are buying it. This is dangerous.
2. As a Brexiter of long standing I know these players quite well. They are all indoctrinated in the ultra libertarian deregulation fantasies and the fact that just about every business group says they don't want deregulation it does not have any impact on their delusions.
3. As to their followers, these are the intellectually subnormal grunters who genuinely do think the Eu is a modern manifestation of the USSR. They're not well. Now don't get me wrong, I'm still a leaver but these people are fucking loony tunes.

Firstly, whatever it is, it won’t be the brexit that 16.4 million opposed in 2016, nor what was wanted by @The3Million EU citizens that or so many @BritishInEurope that were denied a vote!

1. In case it wasn’t already clear - Germany’s position on Brexit will not change. The U.K. has a history of over-relying in Germany in EU negotiations. (Cameron made this mistake too.)

1. Off all the baloney in the #Brexit debate, "reform from within" is the biggest pile of horse manure. As much as anything it is totally issue illiterate. The reform we want is not on the table and would never be on offer.
2. what Brits do not want is EU federalism, we don't want the European social pillar,and we definitely do not want ever close political union. It cannot work. Our respective polities are too distinct.
3. What we want and what we signed up for is a trade bloc and a system in which goods, services and capital can move freely. The Efta model is as good as any. The EU will never reform along the lines of Efta because it doesn't want to.

2. A flawed Leave campaign based on lies, deceit, disingenuity & over simplification & a #Remain one fought w/o any positivity from the Govt & no real commitment from Labour, whose leader was virtually AWOL, did no justice to #Brexit complexity & betrayed our democratic process.
3. A mere 37% of voters/26.5% of the Ppl voted leave in a legally Non-Binding test of public opinion which has been corrupted, on the basis of an illegitimate political promise & interpreted as being the irrefutable Will of the Ppl.
The 1st is insufficient to claim the latter!
