2/ There appear to be two main avenues requiring active defenses: #cybersecurity / hacking, and disinformation / #FakeNews
3/ From my vantage, governments who conduct elections, and corporations who curate #SocialMedia & news are treading water. The next Presidential election is 3 years away, and we've let one year slip away. #FairElections
4/ One year in, there should be a plan to prevent foreign intervention in our elections. Congress should be holding hearings, asking DHS, FBI, NSA, CIA what they are doing to make progress against the plan.
5/ Many states and counties were targeted and probed. The federal government should be coordinating a technical response: we can't expect local government to defend themselves against Nation States.
6/ There needs to be a concerted effort among federal, state & local governments to adopt standards that enable testing, sensing, and rapid response to foreign hijinks. #CyberAware #FairElections
7/ Ensuring that we have #FairElections in 2020 must be a priority for Congress & the Executive Branch. If we don't act with haste, we're jeopardizing 241 years of our democracy, & serving as a beacon for others. #ShameOnUS
