This tweet has struck a chord with people. I just learned there was a Chilean book published under Allende called How to Read Donald Duck (Para leer al Pato Donald). I read an English translation and it explains how Disney teaches consumer capitalism to Latin America (& the USA).
The case you’re pointing out is that Donald always has to work to accomplish something for himself (like making the last payment on his TV, which he does a lot in the comics) but always has food & shelter. There are factories & service workers but no laborers. It’s very stylized.
He’s like the most incompetent worker possible & yet there are jobs always available to him. Half the time he deserves his punishment. Also, there are no parents & children, and no married couples. It’s just an endless sea of uncles, nephews, cousins, girlfriends, and single men.
