I don't read Eric Garland's feed, so I can't speak to anything said about it one way or another. But if you're in media—or even if you're not—and can't distinguish between my credentials, methods, and analysis and that of a certifiable lunatic like Louise Mensch, please block me.
/ Every day I encounter people *frantically* urging others not to retweet this feed. Here's my take: life is short; we're all stressed enough already. If repeatedly accurate legal analysis from a well-trained, experienced criminal attorney and investigator appalls you, block it.
/ But if you have a buddy who's happy to read legal analysis from an attorney, or learn about the Mayflower months early, or the TIHDC meeting months early, or evidence corroborating Steele's dossier months early—in every case using "lost" major-media reports—just leave them be.
/ But if you read a far-right loon (Mensch) who says BLM, Bernie, and #Resistance feeds like mine work for the Kremlin; and created her own "news" site to peddle fake sources; and thinks the "SCOTUS Marshal" delivered *sealed Trump indictments* to—ugh, who knows—yes, rethink it.
/ 2018 will bring more Russia investigation news than 2017 did. As before, major media will just a) report leaks, and otherwise b) let political pundits chew air. But on every key topic—the law; the Kremlin; the IC—there are experts, some on social media, some in print or on TV.
/ I'm an expert on the topics I write on—my bio is on my website. But if you're looking for other legal experts, I'd suggest Toobin, Tribe, Painter, Schaub, Mariotti or Schiff. We won't always agree, but we often will; we may not share a style, but we do share a legal education.
/ If you want Trump-Russia journalism beyond this feed, I'd suggest the same sources I quote here: Bertrand (BI), Wood (BBC), The Guardian, and others. Or outlets that contact me backchannel for help: e.g. ABC and POLITICO. Or outlets I regularly appear on, like CNN and the BBC.
/ Louise Mensch has one source for her "scoops": "sources with links to the intelligence community." And only one site she links to: her blog. I don't do "scoops"; I don't claim to have "sources." And my links will always be to the most respected news organizations in the world.
/ I teach journalism at University of New Hampshire; I've been a regular columnist at multiple large media outlets; I've been a freelancer for almost 25 years. So I do know what a hack-job looks like. Certain outlets get big clicks by falsely linking me to Mensch. Good for them.
/ My point: all that matters is the health of the nation; all that matters is bringing Trump and his goons to justice. In the end, neither I nor this feed matter—*America* matters. I've no illusions. Just get good data on Trump and Russia as best you can. See you in 2018. {end}
