THREAD: Brexiteers look away now but I'm sharing a story from a Polish friend (with his permission) of life since Brexit. First some background, came here unmarried, worked 14 hour days picking fruit, trained to be a plumber, married local girl + have two lovely kids + on way
Before Brexit had a fabulous business would answer all call outs at all times. Even finished a job when wife went into labour with their first baby
Claimed nothing from the state and sunk everything he earned into his business and finally brought a house with a deposit he saved up. He was the proudest man alive when he told me he finally had achieved as a man
Since June 23 business dropped away, and one afternoon a few weeks ago answered his mobile while on another job. Said he had a quiet afternoon but would be about an hour. The lady's asked if he was Polish he said yes.
"Oh I will leave it then, I don't want your sort here"

He asked why, she said well I'd rather a local man come and do it.....he's been living in our town for 10 years.
He's paid his taxes, including one year where he got his figures hopelessly wrong and sent the Inland Revenue £1k more than he was ought to! His wife works part time, he insists his boys speak English ALL the time
Yet last night we are sharing a beer while out kids play and he looks at me and says: "Britain has given me everything I have, I never asked for anything from the country. Why am I treated like an outsider?"

So next time you hear the Brexiteers celebrating a passport or taking back control. Think about my good mate and if you have an EU national in the trades, put the work their way!
