Another thing to consider re infrastructure: Republicans likely can't pass a bill without Democrats. They already used reconciliation for their billionaire tax cuts and would basically have to make infrastructure all tax cuts again: thinkprogress.org/budget-reconci…
Two other things: the "freedom caucus" would likely stop a $1 trillion spending bill in its tracks in the House, meaning Paul Ryan would have to get the votes from Nancy Pelosi (which breaks self-imposed GOP rules about only bringing majority party legislation to the floor.
And if Democrats were to cooperate, they would be basically be helping Republicans make a case for their own re-election. Democratic voters are motivated already, without new infrastructure spending. It's GOP voters who stand to be energized by passing a bill.
Lastly, why would Democrats believe that Mitch McConnell, who LOCKED THEM OUT OF THE ROOM while he and his friends wrote ACA repeal and tax cuts, and Paul "kill entitlements" Ryan, would deal with them fairly? Just questions.
Oh! And where would McConnell and Ryan get the trillion dollars? They just blew a giant hole in the deficit handing out $1.5 trillion in tax cut goodies to themselves and their friends (plus $18 bucks a week to buy off the little people).
Would they force Dems to choose between between bridges and Meals on Wheels? Roads or SNAP? Shoring up the electrical grid or Medicaid?
