Andrew McCarthy's Russia "coverage" is Russia for Idiots—literally. He doesn't understand how probable cause works; he fallaciously uses a process story to negate the substance of an FBI probe; he wildly misstates what we've learned about Page since 2016. nationalreview.com/article/455036…
2/ NO ONE has said "never mind" on Page. Since 2016, we've learned the FBI was exactly right about Page—he had illicit meetings with Kremlin and Rosneft officials and lied about them. During them, he discussed sanctions. And the Trump campaign knew about and encouraged his trips.
3/ NO ONE said Page's Moscow trips are the beginning and end of the Trump-Russia collusion narrative—so NO ONE sees Papadopoulos' case as a replacement of Page's. And the FBI wasn't obligated to verify Steele's dossier as 100% accurate before using it to establish probable cause.
4/ Every description McCarthy gives of how the Dossier was received, discussed, and reported is simply NOT TRUE—this NRO piece is wall-to-wall misinformation, misreporting, and misunderstanding of what the Dossier is, how it was used, and what it means for Trump-Russia collusion.
5/ My point: if Twitter progressives want to continue, in 2018, doing what they did in 2017—engaging in a circular firing squad over reporting of the Trump-Russia story—they should instead look outside the circle and tell folks not to *credulously* spread stories like McCarthy's.
